Die Software für den kreativen und modernen Sprachunterricht
The LingoFox user interface resembles a typical word-processing program such as WORD. LingoFox resembles a typical word-processing program such as WORD. LingoFox also possesses the typical functions of word-processing (e.g. script formatting, frames, tables, picture inclusions, etc.) in order to adapt the texts or work-sheets to personal requirements.
As for exercises regarding parts of speech, the text is automatically analysed in order to determine the parts of speech and the base forms of the contained words. Exercises that do not regard parts of speech can be made without former analysis. The results of the analyses are all saved and are available for new openings of the text.
By the way: LingoFox can also prepare exercises from any word list because texts are not necessarily required.
Results of the Analyses
The results of analyses are summarized in a result window. This summary contains the statistical data on the text.
Dued to the linguistic diversity, even after a comprehensive computer linguistic analysis there are some words that cannot be clearly classified according to their word type just because they are simply unknown. LingoFox possesses a valuable feature in the correction modus with which the result can be manually corrected. By pointing the arrow on a word, the word type provided through LingoFox appears in a reference box Screenshot. In order to be able to check if the assigned base form is correct, it appears next to the word type in brackets.
In order to catch the meaning of a word concretely, a complete sentence in which the word will be found appears in a text box on the lower edge of the window.
This feature is for non-German texts particularly useful because every text regarding word type and its base form can be clear and therefore be used for the production of specific word type exercises. When an unknown word has become clear, it is automatically entered in the user word list with its base form and part of speech. From that moment on the word is no longer unknown for further analyses.
This function enables the construction of a list of sentences that correspond to particular grammatical or lexical criteria. With these sentences you are able to create exercises.
In this way - in order to practice the vocabulary learned from a text book lesson - longer texts that contain the same vocabulary can be sought. As for grammar, it is possible for example to find sentences less than fifteen words long which contain verbs in present perfect and are not interrogative.
This function makes it possible to compare a text with a desired word list. This can be applied to separately stored word lists or desired text files.
The program includes, besides word lists for the Zertifikat Deutsch, also word lists from different DaF-text books, so that it is possible to produce a list of the words that have not yet been dealt within a particular lesson of a text book. For the use of LingoFox in primary school lessons a list of 2000 words, that can be compared with any text, is contained.
This function is particularly useful with non-German languages, as corresponding word lists for the desired language can be entered into the program allowing therefore the processing of foreign language texts.
Besides the given word lists (English, French, Spanish, Italian, Latin, Portuguese) this feature enables the compiling of personal word lists, which will be considered in future analyses. It is possible to include words not yet included in the program list and therefore unknown. These words are then no longer unknown for future analyses.
